Collective work

These works are a result of a collaboration between Ashling Fidler, Natalia Ozga and Mikaella Mousicos. The project focuses on themes each artist explores in their own work; the body, trauma and memory. In having the work be a collaboration, the artists have displayed a collective experience. The artists were able to meditate on  these experiences through this process. This stems from the artist’s personal belief that traumas are more easily managed by sharing one’s experience. Free of ambition, the work is made as personal expression with the idea that it will connect to a viewer.

The work uses many materials, primarily latex mixed with natural made dye, wax, string, ribbon, fabrics, tea, paint and paper. All materials previously featured in each artist’s works. These pieces were then worn and photographed/performed in natural settings as contrast to the plastic natured latex. In performing, the works take on a personalised and ritualistic application. The viewer is able to plainly see how each artist physically and spiritually connects to the work.
